Amazon.co.uk Review Children can learn all about toilet training and other important issues with Channel 5's favourite seven-foot bear and his colourful muppet friends in Bear in the Big Blue House--Potty Time with Bear. Produced by the Jim Henson Company, this video contains two fun-packed 24-minute episodes aimed at two to five year olds. The first episode "When You've Got To Go" was originally broadcast on the Disney Channel in 1999 to rave reviews. It deals sensitively with the subject of toilet training, with Bear gently guiding his friends through all the fears raised by using the potty or toilet. Many topics are covered including good hygiene, respect for privacy, recognising the call of nature, accidents and the importance of seeing toilet use as a natural part of growing up. The second episode, "Call It a Day", slows everything down, emphasising the necessity of a good night's sleep. Bear is the perfect host throughout, drawing viewers into his world by sniffing up close to the camera and claiming he can smell his scrumptious young audience. He is kind, patient and gentle to his friends, making him an ideal carer and teacher. Upbeat songs reiterate the main themes. Many are funny and complement the two regular favourites "Welcome to the Blue House" and "The Goodbye Song". Fans and newcomers will be thrilled by this video--Bear and his friends make even the difficult parts of growing-up a lot of fun! --Tracey Hogan.

| Customer Reviews: friendly approach to potty training April 19, 2007 daisychain (UK) I was really pleased with this video as, although it is American, on this version they use the word 'nappy' and talk to British children about using the toilet. My little girl loves it, im just waiting to see if it helps with potty training!
Worthwhile. February 21, 2003 E. Foley (Cork, Ireland) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
This is a good video - with two editions of the 'Bear' show. The first deals with Potty Training, and is useful for a toddler to watch. There are two issues - Tutter fogets to flush and another character has an 'accident', both of which are well delat with. However, some of the phrases are quite American, and some of the content is quite advanced, but as the only Potty Training video on the market, it is worth having as an aid.
potty training can be fun! July 17, 2002 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
This is a great alternative to watching mind numbingly tacky kids programmes on the TV (plus there are no ad breaks to distract). Bear teaches children by example in how to care and treat others. The video has many hilarious and captivating, imaginative songs, you will find yourself humming the "toiletiers" song everywhere! Put this video in the machine and bear does the rest while you can do other things in piece, get them jobs done or have a well earned rest from demanding children! Works a charm from birth!
A brilliant show to encourage your child to use the potty! July 5, 2002 Tm Maycock (Auburn, CA) 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
When my son was having a hard time 'wanting' to use a potty instead of his nappy, we bought this video. I think it not only made him feel better about a potty, but entertained him. Now my son is potty trained, and he still loves to watch this video. It has children's favorite charactors, whom are friendly, and not annoying at all! This video also has some great musical songs which get him up and dancing around!
